Single elimination tournament rules
Tournament Structure
- Seeding is determined by your Weewar ranking the day registration closes.
- Blue players/teams are determined randomly when the tournament is created.
- The tournament bracket is setup traditional style (i.e. #1 player plays last ranked player, #2 plays second to last, etc.).
- You can leave a tournament any time before it starts. But once it starts, entries are final. If you cannot play your game, then simply abandon it.
How to play
- When the bracket is done, it is the responsibility of the Blue player/team to invite their opponent(s) to a game on the appropriate map.
- So make sure to have an open slot in your Headquarters before the tournament starts, or you risk forfeiting getting Blue.
- If you are the Blue player but fail to start the game within 24 hrs of the round starting, then you forfeit your Blue position and your opponent will then get it.
- If after a game is started and Red has failed to make a move within 24 hrs, then Blue may remove Red from the game and automatically advance to the next round.
- When you setup your game you must use the settings outlined in the tournament details, otherwise you risk disqualification.
- If you need to step away for more than the game's time limit, then please let your opponent know through the chat. Please respect this and generally be excellent to each other.
- Please keep the games public with open chat so other tournament participants can spectate, observe and otherwise check out their future opponents.
- Please do not join a tournament if you don't think you can play at a sufficent rate to keep your round under the specified round time limit.
- If a game is taking longer than the specified round time limit (e.g. due to stalling or stalemates), then the tournament committee will determine the outcome.
- The tournament creator should take a proactive role in making sure the rules are being followed and the tournament is progressing smoothly.
Disputes
- Any disputes that arise during the tournament should ideally be mutually resolved. However, if this is not possible, disputes will be resolved by an unbiased tournament committee that is randomly selected from the tournament's participants.
- Some examples are:
- Whether a player should be removed from a game for exceeding the time limit.
- Whether to allow game restarts in the case of bugs.
- Deciding the outcome of a game that has gone on longer than 2 weeks.
- In the event that a committee member is involved in the dispute, the remaining members will choose an ad hoc member.
- Please bring up disputes over in the Tangler forum. Post your issues in the “Tournament Dispute Resolution” thread (or start a similar thread if it does not exist yet).
Prizes
- Occasionally, prizes will be provided to the winners. These will be announced in an obvious way.
